GPU and compute equipment finance: questions to resolve first

A practical framework for preparing a compute equipment requirement for a case-by-case finance review.

Independent guidance·Reviewed 2026-08-21

High-performance compute projects can involve hardware with specialist specifications, a rapid deployment timetable and an operating model that needs clear evidence. Before considering how equipment might be financed, identify precisely what is being acquired and how it supports the business.

Build an equipment schedule

List the equipment, supplier, price, delivery timetable, warranty and any installation or commissioning costs. Separate the compute hardware from networking, storage, power and cooling systems so the project can be assessed clearly.

Explain the operating case

Set out whether the equipment supports internal use, contracted capacity, a hosted service or another revenue model. Finance providers may need to understand the customer arrangements, expected utilisation, support arrangements and cash-flow assumptions. This does not replace specialist technical, legal or accounting advice.

Keep assumptions visible

Do not assume a specific advance, security approach, useful life, residual value, rate, term or provider appetite. Those matters depend on the equipment, supplier, business, wider transaction and finance provider’s assessment.

How an introduction can work

Sorbus Finance can help assemble a clear brief and introduce suitable cases to finance providers from its panel. Sorbus Finance does not lend directly, and every decision is made by the finance provider on a case-by-case basis.

Independent Broker Notice

Sorbus Finance is an independent commercial finance broker, not a lender. All finance is subject to status, credit approval, and independent lender decision.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can GPU equipment be considered for finance?

Projects may be considered on a case-by-case basis. The equipment, supplier, operating model, business and finance provider requirements all matter.

Should I include installation and supporting systems?

Include all relevant costs and identify them clearly. A provider may assess compute hardware and supporting infrastructure differently.
