Sorbus Finance Moves to Tapton Innovation Centre as Growth Continues into 2027

Sorbus Finance has outgrown its home. After a strong period of growth, we are pleased to confirm that the team has moved out of the Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre and into new, larger premises at Tapton Innovation Centre in Chesterfield.

It is a good problem to have. When we first set up at Northern Gateway, it was the right size for a young brokerage finding its feet. Today, with a growing client base across asset finance, commercial mortgages and our Sorbus Prestige division, we simply need more room to work, and more room to grow.

Why We Are Moving

This is not a move for the sake of moving. It reflects genuine momentum at Sorbus Finance.

Over the past year we have expanded our service offering, invested heavily in content and digital infrastructure, and built out a broker proposition that increasingly competes with, and often outperforms, much larger firms in our sector. Our client base spans everything from SME asset finance and construction plant deals to high value supercar and prestige asset finance, and the volume of enquiries has grown accordingly.

The bigger space at Tapton Innovation Centre gives us the breathing room to keep that momentum going. Just as importantly, it sets us up for the next phase of the business. We are planning further recruitment through 2027, bringing in new brokers and support staff to meet demand, and we needed premises that could grow with us rather than hold us back.

About Tapton Innovation Centre

Tapton Innovation Centre sits within the grounds of Tapton House, on Brimington Road in Chesterfield. It is a genuinely special setting for a business. The house itself was once home to the railway engineer George Stephenson, and the surrounding parkland has a real sense of history and permanence to it, which feels fitting for a firm built on giving clients honest, considered financial advice rather than a quick transactional sale.

The centre is well established as a base for ambitious small and medium sized businesses in the area, offering serviced office space designed to support companies as they scale. That growth focused environment was a big part of the appeal for us. We are surrounded by other businesses on a similar journey, in a setting built specifically to support that kind of expansion.

The Surroundings

One of the real perks of the new office is the location itself. Tapton Innovation Centre is set within Tapton Park, one of Chesterfield's most attractive green spaces, with mature woodland, formal gardens and open parkland right on the doorstep. It makes for a proper break from the desk, whether that is a walk to clear your head between client calls or simply a change of scenery at lunchtime.

Golf fans on the team, and there are a few, will also appreciate that Tapton Park Golf Course is close by. It is a well regarded 18 hole parkland course with an academy course and driving range attached, and it is fast becoming known as a good spot for informal client meetings when the weather plays ball.

Beyond that, the wider Tapton area connects onto the Chesterfield Canal and Tapton Lock, and the town centre itself, with its famous Crooked Spire, is only a short drive or bus ride away. For a business built around trust and relationships, having a setting that clients genuinely enjoy visiting matters more than people might think.

What This Means for Clients and Partners

For existing clients, the move changes nothing about the service you receive. The same team, the same advisers, the same commitment to explaining finance properly rather than pushing you towards the fastest deal, all of that continues exactly as before.

What it does mean is that we now have the capacity to bring in more people, invest further in the tools and technology that support your deals, and keep building out specialist expertise across asset finance, commercial mortgages and prestige asset lending. As we head towards 2027, expect to see the Sorbus team grow, with new faces joining across broking, marketing and client support.
