How does hire purchase work for a bus or coach?

A funder buys the vehicle and your business makes the agreed deposit and instalments. The funder owns the vehicle during the agreement. Ownership can pass to the business after all required payments and any purchase option are completed.

How much deposit is needed for coach hire purchase?

There is no universal deposit. It depends on the vehicle, age, purchase price, business profile, trading history and lender assessment. A larger deposit may reduce the amount financed, but the right structure depends on available cash and operating needs.

Can a start-up bus or coach operator obtain hire purchase?

Some funders consider start-ups, but they may ask for a stronger deposit, relevant operator experience, contracts or forecasts, and personal guarantees. An operator licence and appropriate insurance may also be relevant to the application.

Can I finance a vehicle bought from a private seller?

Some lenders consider private sales, subject to identity, title, valuation and vehicle checks. Dealer purchases are often more straightforward, so tell us the seller type early in the process.

Can hire purchase include a balloon payment?

Some funders may offer a final balloon where the vehicle and proposal support it. This reduces regular payments but leaves a larger final commitment, so it should be assessed against expected value and cash flow rather than assumed.
