Industrial fibre laser cutting machine finance

Industrial fibre laser finance can help metal fabrication businesses acquire a sheet or tube cutting system while spreading eligible purchase costs. Sorbus can discuss new and used machines, hire purchase or finance lease, subject to lender appetite. An industrial cutting installation is not the same purchase as a desktop engraver or small workshop laser.

Cost context

Purchase price and total funding requirement

Request a quotation for the working system, not just the laser source. Bed size, power, cutting head, tube capability, loading and unloading, sheet storage, extraction, assist-gas supply and electrical work affect capital requirements. TRUMPF shows modular automation choices; it does not provide a standard UK installed cash price on the cited page. Small laser prices are not credible comparators for a high-value industrial cell. Separate VAT and installation items before asking what can be funded.

Indicative only. Deposits, terms and structures depend on the asset, the business and funder criteria.

Buyer checks

Before you commit to a supplier

  • Provide material/thickness requirements, bed size, laser power, model and the automation schedule.
  • Show the electrical, extraction and gas infrastructure plan, with landlord consent or site permissions where relevant.
  • Explain capacity utilisation, nesting/programming resources and the effect on downstream production, rather than assuming rated cutting speed becomes revenue.
  • Agree delivery, commissioning and acceptance milestones. Imported machines may need additional supplier, compliance and title checks.

What lenders may ask about your business

Prepare filed and current management accounts, bank statements, cash-flow forecasts, existing commitments and the proposed deposit. Time trading, performance, credit history, asset valuation, supplier credentials and the commercial purpose all affect assessment. A recently established business may have fewer options. Criteria differ: neither approval, a particular term nor a rate is guaranteed. The amount financed can differ from the purchase price after VAT, trade-in settlement, deposits and costs the lender does not accept.

Used equipment

Financing a used industrial fibre laser cutting machine finance

For used equipment, assess laser-source condition, cutting head, service support, control software and consumable availability. Check whether automation is included, complete and compatible. A demonstration on your materials is more useful than an unsupported cutting-speed claim. The lender may obtain a valuation and may not fund every relocation, refurbishment or service item.

Hypothetical project

An illustrative example

Hypothetical example: a fabricator considers a fibre laser with automated sheet handling. It compares achievable output on its job mix, quotes separately for extraction and electricity upgrades, and retains cash for materials and commissioning downtime. Finance is assessed against both the identifiable equipment and the company cash flow; projected efficiency gains are not guaranteed.

Hypothetical scenario for illustration, not a real client or a quote.

Structures

Common finance options

Hire purchase
You pay instalments and title normally passes to the business only once all contractual payments, and any option-to-purchase fee, have been paid.
Finance lease
The funder owns the asset and you rent it for the agreed term. There is no automatic transfer of ownership; end-of-term options depend on the agreement.
Operating lease
Only possible where a funder will take a residual value view on the asset. Return conditions, hours or usage limits usually apply.
Refinance / sale and HP back
Releasing capital from equipment you already own may be considered, subject to valuation and the funder's criteria.

Questions

Questions about industrial fibre laser cutting machine finance

Can automation be financed with a fibre laser cutter?+

It may be considered as an identifiable equipment package. List loaders, storage towers and handling equipment separately so a lender can assess value and commissioning dependencies.

Can I finance a used industrial fibre laser?+

Potentially, with satisfactory condition, provenance, service support and valuation. A used CO2 laser is not automatically a comparable asset to a fibre laser.

Are gas, extraction and electrical upgrades included?+

Not automatically. The invoice needs separating into equipment, installation and ongoing running costs. Some infrastructure or consumables may need other funding or the business’s own cash.

What are fibre laser finance rates?+

Rates depend on the applicant, machine, supplier, term and lender. Request a written illustration showing total cost and fees rather than treating a generic advertised rate as an offer.

Can a recently established fabricator apply?+

An enquiry can be considered, but limited trading evidence may restrict options. Experience, contracts, forecasts, deposit and asset resale evidence may be important. Approval is not assured.

Can the lender pay an overseas laser supplier in stages?+

Only if it accepts the arrangement. Deposits, work in progress, import VAT, currency exposure and acceptance testing need agreement before the supplier order becomes binding.
