Car finance for professional footballers
Sorbus Finance helps professional footballers explore car finance with relevant lender access and a broker to explain the options. This service is for players in England’s Premier League or Championship, or the Scottish Premiership (Scottish Premier League), borrowing through a company or personally where they meet the high-net-worth criteria. All finance is subject to status, evidence and lender criteria.
Broker support to help you move forward
Access to relevant lenders, help presenting your circumstances and a broker to explain the next step: that is the value Sorbus brings to your enquiry.
Personal borrowing is a separate route from company finance. Sports professionals who meet the high-net-worth criteria may enquire personally, subject to eligibility checks and lender criteria. Sporting status alone does not establish eligibility.
Lender access with someone to help manage the process
A car finance offer is easier to assess when you understand the alternatives and the commitment behind it. Sorbus Finance can identify relevant lenders from our extensive panel of 150+ lenders, explain the options available for your circumstances and help prepare the case. Not every panel lender serves this market; the approach depends on the borrower, vehicle and lender criteria.
Our role is to help you make sense of those criteria without having to repeat the same story to lenders that do not fit. We discuss your playing contract, commercial income and car plans together, with your agent or financial manager involved where you wish and have given permission. The aim is a clearer route from the initial conversation to a lender assessment.
Put your playing and commercial income in context
Your income can involve more than the salary shown on a playing contract. We help explain fixed pay, appearance payments, bonuses and commercial receipts, including who receives each payment and how long the agreements last. That preparation gives the lender a clearer basis for assessment without treating expected performance bonuses or an unsigned renewal as guaranteed earnings.
For personal borrowing, evidence relates to your own income, assets and commitments under the applicable requirements. For company borrowing, the lender considers the company’s receipts and obligations. A playing salary paid to you personally does not automatically count as the company’s income, even if you are its director.
Look beyond the headline monthly payment
We help you look at the deposit, repayment term and any final payment together, rather than comparing a monthly figure in isolation. Your current contract, other commitments and the cash you want to retain all matter to that discussion. Injury, release or a move can change your income without cancelling payments, so flexibility and settlement terms deserve attention before you proceed.
A balloon lowers the amount repaid through regular instalments but leaves a sum due later. It needs a realistic repayment plan rather than reliance on a new playing contract or assumed vehicle value. A deposit also uses cash, so a lower monthly figure is not the only consideration.
Check the route and league eligibility with us
Both company and qualifying high-net-worth personal enquiries are limited to players currently in England’s Premier League or Championship, or the Scottish Premiership. Other English or Scottish divisions, academy-only participation, overseas leagues and former-player status do not by themselves meet this requirement. Selecting a league is a declaration, not verification of a playing contract or finance approval.
We can explain the finance routes, while your accountant or tax adviser helps with the borrowing structure. A company needs an appropriate business purpose and its own supporting finances; directors may be asked for personal guarantees. Personal enquiries need the applicable high-net-worth checks. Selecting an income or asset option does not confirm a legal exemption or lender acceptance.
A straightforward first conversation
You do not need a finished application or a car order to speak to Sorbus. Tell us your eligible league, who would borrow, what you have in mind and the timing. We can discuss the possible next steps and explain the evidence needed for a relevant lender. If a transfer or renewal is pending, we can account for that uncertainty in the conversation.
Do not paste playing contracts, salary documents, bank details or identification into the enquiry. We can explain what evidence is needed later and how to provide it appropriately. Agents and advisers should use their own contact details and have permission before sharing further information about a client.
Talk to Sorbus about your next car
If you are considering a Ferrari or Porsche, explore our marque guides and bring the vehicle details to the conversation. If you are still deciding, start with the budget and the outcome you want. Sorbus can help connect those plans with relevant lender options, rather than leave you to work through the finance questions alone.
Make an initial enquiry to discuss your car plans with the team. There is no credit search or obligation at this stage, and you can involve your agent or financial manager. We will explain where further evidence is needed and whether there is a practical route to explore, without promising finance before a lender has assessed the case.
