Car finance for professional rugby players
Sorbus Finance helps professional rugby players explore car finance with relevant lender access and a broker to explain playing-contract and commercial income. We support company enquiries and personal enquiries where you meet the high-net-worth criteria. All finance is subject to eligibility checks, status and lender criteria.
Broker support to help you move forward
Access to relevant lenders, help presenting your circumstances and a broker to explain the next step: that is the value Sorbus brings to your enquiry.
Personal borrowing is a separate route from company finance. Sports professionals who meet the high-net-worth criteria may enquire personally, subject to eligibility checks and lender criteria. Sporting status alone does not establish eligibility.
A broker to connect your car plans with relevant lenders
You can bring your next car plans to Sorbus without having to work out the lender landscape first. We identify relevant lenders from our extensive panel of 150+ lenders and help explain the options for your circumstances. The wider panel covers different finance needs; the lenders approached depend on the vehicle, borrower and their criteria, not simply your sporting profile.
Our role is to help present the position clearly, from contracted club pay to sponsorship, appearance fees and other commercial income. We distinguish fixed earnings from variable amounts and explain who receives the money. You have a broker to discuss the case with, rather than trying to match your playing contract to unfamiliar finance requirements alone.
Explore company and qualifying personal routes
A personal application concerns the player’s own position. It can be considered through the relevant Prestige route where the player meets the high-net-worth criteria, subject to the required checks. The initial salary or asset selection is not a certification of eligibility or confirmation that an exemption applies.
A company application concerns the company’s income, commitments and business purpose for the vehicle. Wages paid directly to a player do not automatically form company turnover. The distinction should be clear before a vehicle purchase is agreed. Speak to your accountant or tax adviser about the right structure for you.
Discuss the agreement alongside your career plans
We help you consider the car commitment alongside your current contract and the cash you want to keep available for other priorities. That discussion should include quieter periods and possible career changes, not just today’s earnings. Injury, time outside the squad or leaving professional rugby can affect income without stopping finance payments, so it is worth understanding the implications early.
A term extending beyond a current contract needs a credible explanation of how it will be serviced. It should not rely solely on another playing agreement being offered. Career transition, coaching or other future work may be relevant, but an expectation is not the same as evidenced income already in place.
Make sense of the finance, not just the monthly figure
We can explain how the deposit, regular instalments, term and any balloon payment work together, helping you compare the commitment rather than one figure. A lower monthly payment can leave more to repay later. Understanding that trade-off helps you judge the options, with a realistic plan for the final sum rather than an assumed future car value.
Refinancing at the end is not guaranteed. Early settlement or termination may involve costs, and selling a financed vehicle can require lender permission. If a company is borrowing, understand the extent of any personal guarantee before signing, including the consequences if the company cannot keep up with payments.
Put a new signing or overseas move into context
Changing club or moving overseas does not automatically transfer the car finance to a new employer or end the agreement. The borrower remains responsible under its terms. Any plan to export or keep the car abroad should be checked with the lender before arrangements are made.
If you are newly arrived in the UK, we can help explain a thin UK credit history or income received abroad before approaching a relevant lender. Residence, the borrower receiving the money and the evidence available all matter. A playing contract does not replace those checks, but a clear explanation helps focus the next conversation.
Start your next car conversation with Sorbus
Bring us the car you are considering or a broad budget and the timing you have in mind. We can discuss the possible routes and explain what a relevant lender may need. A short outline is enough to begin; please keep identity documents, bank details and signed contracts out of the initial form. Advisers should obtain permission before sharing detailed client information.
Our Ferrari and Porsche guides offer marque-specific information, and the team can help you explore the finance around your own requirement. Make an initial enquiry for a conversation with no credit search or obligation. You will have a clearer understanding of the next steps, including where further evidence or a change to the requirement may be needed.
