Growth Guarantee Scheme accredited lenders

Growth Guarantee Scheme finance is provided by lenders accredited by the British Business Bank. The lender list identifies participating providers, but accreditation does not mean every lender offers every finance type or accepts every application. Check the current directory and contact lenders directly to confirm product availability, eligibility, pricing and application requirements.

What you need to know before you apply.

Find out how to use the official accredited lender directory and what accreditation does and does not mean.

01

Finance is delivered by accredited lenders.

02

Lenders may offer different products and have different criteria.

03

Accreditation is not an endorsement or approval of a particular application.

Important distinction. The Growth Guarantee Scheme guarantee is provided to the lender, not the business. The borrower remains fully liable for the debt. A personal guarantee may be requested at the lender’s discretion; scheme backing does not guarantee approval.

Use the current directory

The British Business Bank publishes an accredited lender directory. Consult that source for current scheme participation and contact details instead of relying on an old list or an unverified claim. Then ask a lender whether it accepts enquiries for your product and circumstances.

  • Verify the lender appears in the official list.
  • Check which facility types it currently offers.
  • Ask how to start an application and what evidence is needed.

Compare offers carefully

Accredited lenders make their own commercial and credit decisions. They may differ in application processes, eligibility, pricing, security requirements and available products. Accreditation alone does not say that a lender is best for a particular business or that a facility will be approved.

  • Compare the total cost and repayment obligations.
  • Review personal guarantee and security provisions.
  • Consider timing, covenants and early repayment terms.

Intermediaries and lender relationships

A business may approach a lender directly or use an intermediary where appropriate. An intermediary can help explain an application route, but only the lender decides whether to provide a facility. No lender relationship or guaranteed referral should be assumed without confirmation.

  • Ask who will make the credit decision.
  • Confirm any intermediary fees and role.
  • Get the final offer and conditions directly from the lender.

Questions, answered.

The detail matters. These answers are general guidance, not a lending decision. A lender will assess your particular circumstances.

Does accreditation mean a lender will approve me?
No. Accreditation means the lender participates in the programme. It still assesses each application and may decline it or offer different terms.
Do all accredited lenders offer the same facilities?
No. Product availability and criteria vary. Contact the lender and check the official directory for up-to-date information.
