What independence means in Sorbus Finance’s broker model, including its panel relationships, remuneration and regulatory status.
What the term means here
Sorbus operates as a broker rather than a bank or finance provider: it introduces customers to lenders and does not fund agreements itself. It has an extensive panel of 150+ lenders, but does not represent every lender in the UK. For that reason, Sorbus does not offer whole-of-market coverage.
Panel relationships and payment
Sorbus has commercial arrangements with lenders on its panel. Lenders may pay Sorbus commission; that commission may be fixed or variable and may affect the amount the customer pays. Commission is disclosed before an application is submitted and informed consent is requested. An occasional broker fee may also apply if agreed in writing in advance.
The potential conflict created by lender remuneration is addressed in Sorbus’s disclosures. Customers can read the documents and ask questions before deciding whether to proceed.
Regulatory relationship
Sorbus Finance Ltd is an Appointed Representative of Moorgate Finance Limited T/A MBN, which is authorised and regulated by the FCA (firm reference number 662419). Sorbus is a credit broker, not an FCA-authorised lender. It provides product information and does not give personal advice or recommendations.
