How Does Sorbus Finance Work?

The short answer

Sorbus starts by understanding a business’s funding requirement, then may identify and approach relevant lenders on its panel and support the case through the lender’s process.

An overview of the commercial finance broker process, from an initial conversation through lender assessment and completion.

1. Explain the requirement

A business can contact Sorbus to describe what it wants to fund, the amount involved and the intended timing. The initial conversation helps establish whether the request falls within the finance areas Sorbus arranges. An enquiry is a conversation, not a lending decision.

2. Understand the business and possible routes

A broker may ask about the business, its trading position, the asset or purpose of funding, and any constraints such as deposit, term or cashflow. This context helps narrow the finance routes and panel lenders that may be relevant. It is not a personal recommendation or a guarantee that a lender will accept the case.

3. Prepare and present information

If the customer wants to proceed, the broker can help assemble and present information for a lender approach. The lender may ask follow-up questions or request documents; what is needed depends on the application and provider.

Before any application or credit search, ask Sorbus what information will be shared, which provider is being approached and what checks may take place. A lender performs its own assessment and makes its own decision.

4. Lender decision and completion

If a lender is willing to proceed, it sets out its offer and documentation. The customer should review the terms, costs and any disclosures before deciding whether to accept. Sorbus may help coordinate questions and paperwork, but the agreement is between the customer and the lender and completion depends on the lender’s requirements being met.

There is no guaranteed outcome. If the first route does not progress, Sorbus can discuss whether another lender on its panel may be appropriate; availability cannot be promised.
